Store your information securely until it is no longer needed or you ask for it to be removed.
Send you a welcome series of emails introducing myself and my work.
Send you regular email newsletters (usually two a month) containing speculative fiction author interviews and book roundups.
Send you occasional emails with relevant news, such as notifications of new releases.
Track your involvement with the emails in order to help send you interesting information.
Questions
Do you gather any data on website users?
No. I do not use any cookies or tracking tools on my website that store information about individual users.
How secure is my data?
All personal details relating to newsletter subscriptions are held securely by MailerLite, with backups of basic user information on a secure Microsoft storage account.
No personal details are passed on to any other parties, unless complying with a legal requirement (for instance a legitimate request from law enforcement).
In the highly unlikely event of a breach of security, users will be informed as soon as reasonably practicable.
What data do you collect?
When a user signs up to my newsletter, they supply their email address and name. They also have the option to supply their country.
My email marketing campaigns contain tracking facilities within the actual email. Subscriber activity is tracked and stored in a database for future analysis and evaluation. Such tracked activity may include: where the user joined up from, the opening of emails, forwarding of emails, the clicking of links within the email content, times, dates and frequency of activity, and other similar information.
What do you do with the data?
This information is processed to refine future email campaigns and supply the user with more relevant content based around their activity.
What do I do if the information you have about me is incorrect?
Please email alasdair@alasdairshaw.co.uk from the subscribed email address and let me know what needs correcting.
How long do you keep the data?
The data is kept until such time as it is no longer relevant.
However, the user may at any time request their data be deleted by emailing alasdair@alasdairshaw.co.uk from the subscribed email address.
What information do you hold on me?
Please email alasdair@alasdairshaw.co.uk from the subscribed email address to request a free copy of personal information held about you.
How do I stop getting emails from you?
Click on the 'unsubscribe' link at the bottom of any newsletter.
Do you get anything when users click on links?
I am a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com and amazon.co.uk.
This does not cost the user anything and it does not influence my choice of books or services to recommend.
I do not pass any of the information I store on users to Amazon. Please be aware, however, that Amazon will know that the referral came from this site. See Amazon's Privacy Policy for further information on what they will do with the information they have on you.
What happens if I share a link to your site?
Your social media platform may track and save your request to share a web page, just like any other.
